Our trip through Sicily included the cities of Taormina, Agrigento, Syracuse and Caltagirone.  We landed at 9pm in Catania where our friend met us.  We were to stay with her while visiting the island.  She would take us to places that we wouldn't normally be able to find.  That night as we left the airport and drove to Taormina we could see the lava pouring down the mountain.  It was a beautiful site.  We arrived at the beach house with the pale moon light shining off the sea below us.  It was a dream we finally made it. We would stay at different places around the island and cover much ground.  We enjoyed our time on the island and promised the family that we would visit again soon.

During our stay on the island we drove across the island to see a 1st Century AD Villa, home to a Roman Senator.  Over the years it has been used as all sorts of things but the floor mosaics has withstood the test of time.  One of the designs is girls in bikinis playing ball and picking flowers.  This is the earliest recorded depiction of Bikinis.
